Skip outside No 2
Update Friday 9th March
Well the repair finally got done on Friday lunchtime. Despite an assurance from the Bucks CC man responsible for supervising the contractor that he would personally be present and that he would ring my doorbell to invite me to observe the proceedings, this did not happen. I have been told that the void under the road was first filled with foam concrete and then the top dressing of tarmac applied. If this really has happened then we may be okay, but I think it would be a good idea if you were to caution people on the website to treat the repair with great tenderness. It looks as if there is still quite a bit of spoil to be removed from No.2, so I suspect the dreaded skip may well return. Watch this space literally.
Barney
You will have noticed the large Skip outside No 2 and you may also have noticed the large hole in the road by the drain.
Barney at No 1, and Steve at No 23, have contacted Bucks Highways. Barney was advised of the following:
"Dear Mr Tyrwhitt-Drake. We refer to our earlier email concerning the above.Further investigations have shown that more extensive work is required to address this problem which, if carried out with the skip in its present location, would result in the road having to be closed. Consequently, we will be contacting the skip company with a view to them moving the skip to allow our contractor to effect the necessary repairs early next week. The traffic cone currently in place, whilst narrowing down the available road space, will hopefully assist drivers in avoiding the problem over the weekend.
Yours sincerely, Buckinghamshire Highways on Call 0845 230 2882 www.buckscc.gov.uk/hoc"
